The securing cable which may be installed at any time into the QL2 mounting rail means that the bags may be left on the bike without fear of casual theft. The cable can be easily installed into the QL2 mounting rail. If it is not used, there is simply a wire loop looking out of the rail. If it is used, it can easily be pulled out of the rail by holding the wire loop. Cable as well as U-locks can be fed through the wire loop. These mechanisms may be used to lock the ORTLIEB bags, the bike helmet or the saddle against theft simultaneously.

The anti-theft device is available in two sizes (E124 & E125), thus fitting not only bags with the long QL2 rail (Bike-Tourer, Back-Roller Plus, Bike-Packer Plus, Office-Bag QL2, Downtown QL2, Bike-Shopper, MOTO side bag QL2), but also bags with the short QL2 rail (Sport-Packer Plus, Front-Roller Plus) as security against theft.
